My name is Jodi Utter. I am a mom to six children, ranging in age 35 to 17 and a Mimi to one. Being a mom has been my greatest joy! Through my business I aim to share my joy for motherhood; supporting mothers to also find joy amidst the inevitable chaos that motherhood can bring. I am a member of Dona International, a CAPPA Certified Labor & Birth Doula, a CAPPA Certified Postpartum Doula, CAPPA Lactation Educator and a CAPPA Child Birth Educator. I am trained in Pregnancy and Infant Loss through QUILT. I am trained in the clinically evidence based use of aromatherapy in women's health, a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and am certified with the American Heart Association in Adult/Child/Infant CPR, AED and choking. My wisdom and experience set me apart from others!
Preparing for your baby's birth is a very exciting time. My wisdom and many years of experience allow me to bring a sense of calm and comfort during the last months of your pregnancy, labor and the birth of your baby. I use your preferences and expectations to tailor my approach, doing everything that I can to positively support your transformation into motherhood.
As your birth doula, I will get to know you and your partner prior to your estimated due date. I will learn what your wishes are for your labor and help you to develop a personalized birth plan. Once your labor begins, I will support you at home until you are ready to head to the hospital. At the hospital, I will remain with you throughout labor and will stay with you during the "Golden Hour", helping your personal comfort needs. Following the birth of your baby, I will visit you in your home to talk about your baby's birth, answer questions, support you in your feeding choice and early postpartum care.
From 36 weeks, I am available to you via text, phone, or email, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until after our post birth visit. After that time, additional postpartum hours may be purchased at my standard rate.
Making the transition from the hospital to home can be challenging as you recover from birth and your family adjusts to a new sleep schedule. New parents often underestimate how overwhelming this transition can be. As your Postpartum doula, I bring my years of experience and wisdom, along with compassionate mother & baby centered care, into your home. I will be there to care for you and your family as you recover. Having me there to guide and support you in feeding and newborn care is a gift you give yourself! You deserve to be nurtured as you nurture your new little one. Many families choose to add me to their baby shower registry as postpartum care is the most valuable gift someone could give.
I provide daytime and/or overnight care for your family. Sleep is vital to your recovery and I will encourage you to rest while I am in your home. I will support your infant feeding choice (breast, bottle or formula) as well as teach you infant soothing techniques. In addition, I will help prepare light meals, do infant laundry, and run errands as needed. .
Prebirth Consult and 2 home visits where we will focus on your individual birth plan, comfort techniques, nutrition and any questions or concerns that you may have. From 36 weeks to the birth of your babe, I am available via text, email or phone 24/7 to answer questions, provide insight and evidence based information for concerns that arise. I will support you at home initially, and remain with you at the hospital until your new baby is born. My support continues during those first few hours as you and your baby transition to postpartum care. During your labor, I will support your decisions to labor as you choose, unmedicated or medicated, and help you to navigate and cope with all that arises.
Fee: $40/hour (4 hour daily minimum)
One of my very favorite times with families is during those early postpartum days! Initially, I will be holding your baby a lot as I encourage you and your partner to rest. As baby becomes more comfortable in life outside the womb, I provide education, especially in regards to feeding, sleep and soothing! I love to make sure mom is well nourished with smoothies and light snacks, has fresh sheets to slip into after a nice shower or bath and that baby's laundry is neatly folded and ready to be put away. I am the compassionate and non-judgmental listener as you process your birth and your new role as parents.
Sunrise Care: 6 am - 10 am
Daytime Care: 8 am - 12 noon or 1-5 pm

During the night, I support you with feedings, help establish a nighttime routine, and most importantly, sleep!. My "All-night" presence enables your family a full night's rest, knowing that your baby is cared for and supported. I love to leave the house straightened up and the laundry neatly folded. The overnight care I provide benefits not only the new mother, but also the entire family.
Overnight Care is provided from 9 pm - 5 am
